Kouichi Tsuji graduated in 1992 at Tohoku University, Japan, and received his Ph.D. in metallurgy on glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy. After that, he became research associate in the Analytical Science Division of the Institute for Materials Research (IMR), Tohoku University, Japan. Since 2002, he has studied at Osaka City University (OCU), Japan. He is a Full Professor from 2008 in the Department of Applied Chemistry & Bioengineering, and a vice director of Equipment Sharing Center for Advanced Research and Innovation at OCU. He is a president of The Discussion Group of X-Ray Analysis (like EXSA), The Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry (JSAC) since 2015. He received in 2019 the JSAC Award. He worked as co-chair of TXRF2013 in Osaka with Prof. Y. Gohshi. He is a convener of ISO/TC201/SC10/WG1 for X-ray Reflectometry (XRR) and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analysis. He is author of more than 180 original papers and more than 20 books including the publications written in Japanese. His research activities involve the development and improvement of X-ray analytical methods; such as TXRF, Micro-XRF, confocal micro-XRF, WD & ED-XRF imaging, PIXE, EPMA, and their applications.
